BFA youngsters given US chance
A group of the Island?s best young footballers are heading to the United States for Bermuda Football Association's third annual Prep School Tour as they look to develop their skills, both on and off the pitch.The scheme will see the BFA send between 10 and 18 talented teenagers to nine Prep Schools on the East Coast for a five-day tour in September.The tour will expose each player to a series of visits to an established network of top schools and provide an opportunity for them to secure financial aid packages and sponsorships for joining one of the schools. Capital G are financially supported the trip.South Kent, Canterbury School, Kent School, Salisbury School, Taft School, Hutchkiss, School, Millbrook School, Westminster School and Berkshire School are the schools being visited by the Bermuda players.BFA youth director, Devarr Boyles, said: "This is the third year running for the Bermuda Football Association to oversee the Prep Schools of great sporting and academic benefits for the our students. We have introduced 46 students who have taken firsthand knowledge on this great opportunity for their future regarding academics and sports."The BFA initially started the scheme in 2008 under former president Richard Calderon. Later this summer 11 National Academy players, Ryan Hassell, Mauriq Hill, Akeyla Furbert, Quintonio Lema, Justin Donawa and Ryan Parris, will be enrolling at Prep Schools. They all attended Prep School tours in the past.
