Ill passenger forces ship to divert to Bermuda

A cruise ship bound for the Azores was diverted to Bermuda yesterday after a passenger had a medical emergency.A spokesman for the Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre said they were contacted at around noon by the Crown Princess, stating a passenger in her 70s had become critically ill.The ship diverted towards Bermuda, where it was met by a pilot boat at around 7pm to transfer the passenger.The senior was then rushed to Ordnance Island and a waiting ambulance. The Crown Princess has since continued its voyage to Ponta Delgada.
