Butterfield awarded Citywealth accolades
The Bank of Butterfield has notched up a hat trick of international awards. The firm and its overseas subsidiaries won a total of three financial centre awards from UK-based wealth management publisher Citywealth.
Butterfield was named private bank of the year and trust company of the year in the Caribbean and trust company of the year in Switzerland. The Bermuda bank was also runner-up to the Legis Group for Guernsey trust company of the year.
Butterfield this month announced that it had signed an agreement to take over the trust and fiduciary services arm of Guernsey-based Legis, subject to approval.
Butterfield’s chairman and CEO Brendan McDonagh said” We are pleased to have been recognised by our peers in the wealth management sector with these prestigious awards. “Wealth management businesses are important at Butterfield and these awards demonstrate that our people and services are among the most respected in the industry.
“We congratulate our private banking in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands and our trust teams in Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and the Bahamas, Switzerland and Guernsey on receiving these honours.”
Bob Moore, executive vice-president and head of group trust at Butterfield, added: “It’s a great accomplishment to receive these awards.
