Matthew Oliveira won silver medals in the individual time-trial and road race in the 15 to 16 boys’ division at the Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

Oliveira, who was making his debut at the Championships, was less than a second off the top spot in the time-trial.

Also in the 15-16 junior boys’ time-trial, Kaden Hopkins finished ninth while Tristan Narraway and Cassy McPhee came sixth and seventh respectively in the girls’ category.

Daniel Oatley, a title winner three years ago, placed seventh in the time-trial in the 17-18 junior male category before finishing an impressive tenth in the road race.

Hopkins and Dylan Hill both failed to finish the road race, while McPhee and Narraway finished at the back of the field in the girls’ race.
