Students at Warwick Academy were able to meet and talk to a pair of MIT engineers as they prepared for the BIOS ROV competition.
The school’s robotics club, who are prototyping robots for the challenge, were last week greeted by Geoff Gardner and John Rizzi, who talked about the importance of robotics.
Mr Rizzi is currently the executive director of Robots in Service of the Environment, who are on the island working on a robot designed to hunt invasive lionfish.
A school spokesman said: “Warwick Academy recognises the huge importance of robotics in the workplace today and this is one step where we are preparing students for the world tomorrow.”
