Warwick Academy international baccalaureate pupils ran an art show to raise money for the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art.

Naomi Proctor, Ryley Mason, Shane White, Asha Symons and Cristin Raynor, from the Community, Action and Service programme, arranged the Art Exhibition and Literary Café earlier this month at the school.

Pupils from Years 12 and 13 performed songs, wrote original poems, and submitted artwork and photography to the show, with the overall theme of identity. They raised more than $400, which they donated to Masterworks.

Masterworks founder Tom Butterfield said: “It’s wonderful to know there are good people out in the world thinking about you and doing something good on your behalf. I really do appreciate that.”

Mr Butterfield said that the funds would go towards the museum’s bursary programme, which will help a child attend the Masterworks Summer Camp programme this summer.

The Warwick Academy pupils were also given memberships to the museum, some of whom also volunteer their time at Masterworks.

The CAS programme encourages pupils to become involved in the world outside school and encourages students to be innovative and develop a sense of social responsibility.

Naomi said: “The work that Masterworks does in the community is something that we wanted to support; the organisation fit well with the idea for us of giving back to the community.”

Ms Mason added: “We received a lot of support from our visual arts teacher, Daniel DeSilva. We want to help promote arts within in the school and the community.”
