Valentine’s Day tea party for seniors
More than 100 seniors enjoyed a Valentine’s Day tea party organised as a big ‘thank-you’ from one of the Island’s biggest pension providers.
Colonial Group International invited seniors with a pension with the firm to the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute which was decorated with hearts and flowers.
CGI CEO Naz Farrow told the seniors: “It was very important to us to show you our appreciation. You have been loyal clients, and this was our way of saying thank-you.
“Seniors are the core of our community. It is because of you and your values that Bermuda is what it is today.”
The seniors were entertained by the band from Victor Scott Primary school and Shine Hayward also played love songs on his flute and saxophone. Valentine’s Day decorations on the table and walls were done by pupils at Saltus Cavendish.
Laurie Daniels, Colonial’s Client Services Manager, said: “Everyone seemed to have a great time, and at the end a lot of the seniors were dancing to Shine Hayward’s music.
“It is so good to be able to give back to the community and we are going to make this an annual event.”
Larry Gibson, Colonial Pension Services Ltd.’s COO, closed the event by thanking the seniors for embracing the inaugural event and attending in such numbers.
He also thanked them for their tremendous contributions to our society. Finally, he acknowledged Colonial Pensions Client Services team for organizing the event, as well as the many volunteers from the company who helped to make the tea a success.
