The crash scene in Sandys (Photograph supplied)

A driver was taken to hospital after her car hit a pillar and flipped on its side.

The injured woman was treated at the scene by firefighters for a neck injury and scratches to her face before she was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

The accident happened at the foot of Scaur Hill on Somerset Road in Sandys at 4pm on Sunday.

Police said the woman was driving east along Somerset Road, failed to negotiate a bend and struck an entrance pillar to a driveway.

The vehicle flipped on its side in the westbound lane.
