Lamb named Cabinet permanent secretary

A former prisons commissioner was unveiled as the new Permanent Secretary to the Cabinet Office yesterday.

Lieutenant-Colonel Edward Lamb has been acting in the post since February 2019.

Derrick Binns, Head of the Public Service, said: “I am pleased to congratulate Colonel Lamb as he takes on the post of Permanent Secretary for the Cabinet Office.

“Over the years, he has served Bermuda with distinction and brings to the position a wealth of knowledge, skill and experience.

“Throughout his career, he has had significant roles that have helped to shape and define major institutions on the island.”

The Bermuda Post Office, information and digital technologies, communications, statistics, the Office of Project Management and Procurement, and the ICT policy and innovation departments will report to Colonel Lamb.

Colonel Lamb is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, in Britain, the Caribbean Staff College and the United Kingdom Joint Services Staff College.

He served in the Royal Bermuda Regiment for 26 years and rose from private soldier to Commanding Officer in 2002, a post he held for four years.

Colonel Lamb was appointed Commissioner of Corrections in 2006 and in 2018 was seconded to the National Anti-Money Laundering Committee as project manager.
