Man faces driving death charge
last summer of a 16-year-old schoolgirl during a road traffic accident.
Lerone Malcolm Ming, 24, of Ord Road, was not required to enter a plea to the charge which is indictable. Zeita Renee Matthew died as a result of a June 8 collision between two bikes opposite the Coral Beach Tennis Club in Paget.
Ming was also charged with driving while disqualified at the time of the fatal accident.
Around 11 p.m., Miss Matthew, a former Berkeley Institute student, was towing a 17-year-old passenger east on South Road when the collision with Ming and his 22-year-old passenger took place.
Miss Matthew suffered serious head injuries and was kept in the Intensive Care Unit of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital until she died almost two weeks later.
The other people involved only received minor cuts and abrasions.
Magistrate Edward King ordered Ming to appear again for mention in the Plea Court session on February 18. Ming was bailed in the sum of $5,000 with two like sureties.
