Young mother Nea Barnett created an indoor play centre for children after spotting a gap in the market after trying to keep her own daughter entertained.

Ms Barnett opened Full of Beans last week in a bid to provide entertainment for small children of up to ten years old.

She said: “My daughter was a baby. I was an auditor and I was trying to study for the Chartered Public Accountant exams.

“It was really tough — I was on my own with my baby and I was going to the aquarium and trying to find ways to entertain her while I studied.

“That gave me the idea that something needed to be here in Bermuda — that’s really where the idea came from.”

Ms Barnett, whose daughter Nazaya is now five and joined by one-year-old son Malachi, added that business was picking up.

She said: “A lot of people come in — it seems the word is getting out.

“It’s been a nice start off, slow but steady.”

Full of Beans, on Industrial Park Road in Southampton near the Bermuda Golf Academy, features a “tot spot” for children up to three years old.

The “jungle gym” caters to those aged between three and ten.

Ms Barnett said: “We have a baby area which is soft play and the area for older children has a soft play area and a small soft play jungle gym.”

The centre also features a library, an arts and crafts area and boasts an impressive array of toys and games designed to suit the age groups.

And it features a children’s disco every Friday from 3pm to 7pm, complete with disco lights.

Ms Barnett said: “We can cater for about 25 children.”

Full of Beans can be rented out for children’s parties, costing $400 for two-and-a-half hours.

Ms Barnett said: “We also have a covered concrete patio. When he have a party, people just rent out the entire place and there is food and a messy play area on the concrete patio.”

Full of Beans is open Tuesdays to Saturdays between 10am and 7pm and on Sundays between 10am and 3pm.
