Southampton man charged with drugs offences
A Southampton man accused of importing more than $320,000 worth of cannabis and cannabis resin has been granted bail.
Appearing in Magistrates’ Court this morning, Harry Lightbourne was charged with importing cannabis and cannabis resin on March 17 last year.
The 55-year-old was also charged with possessing the drugs which were intended for supply in St George’s on the same date.
Prosecutor Larissa Burgess said the offences involved 4,445.7 grams of cannabis, which would have had a street value of $222,285, and 1,067.2g of resin, which could have fetched $106,720.
Mr Lightbourne was not required to enter a plea as the matter will be heard in the Supreme Court.
Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe granted $20,000 bail with a like surety and adjourned the matter to the May arraignments session.
