Feed My Lambs Ministry has been given a $3,000 boost by former travel and social group Bon Vivants.

The money will be split between the charity’s dental clinic and medical clinic at the compound it runs in Montrouis, Haiti.

“We’re very, very grateful,” said Marianne Herbert, who accepted the cheque on behalf of Feed My Lambs Ministry.

“Really it’s by the generosity of people like themselves that we are able to carry on with our work.”

Noting that the charity runs an orphanage for 58 children and a school for 700, with nine children in further education at universities or colleges, she added that “the money is extremely precious to us”.

Former president Bon Vivants president Dianna Adams explained the group chose to donate money to the charity along with the Lady Cubitt Compassionate Association and Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre.

“Our club had money in the bank from over the years,” she told The Royal Gazette. “Over the years, as we took in dues and different functions that we had, we invested the money.

“The money built up and we decided that now that the club has been disbanded, we’re giving it to charity.”

Bon Vivants was founded in 1972 as a social group for women working in hospitality. Members represented Bermuda at conferences and conventions around the world.

However, interest dwindled and the group held its last meeting in 2011.
