Alize makes mark in fashion world
Bermudian Alize Bailey has credited the Bermuda Fashion Festival for contributing to her soaring success after she qualified for two prestigious modelling competitions in London.
Ms Bailey, 19, will compete in the Editorial category for Top Model UK and will be representing Bermuda in the Top Model Worldwide on March 18.
She got through two stages of auditions from more than 4,000 applicants. Ms Bailey told The Royal Gazette: “I look at this experience as a stepping stone towards becoming an established model. I credit a lot of my growth to the Bermuda Fashion Festival team as they’ve coached and encouraged me throughout my entire modelling career.”
Ms Bailey said success in the competition could project her into a professional career. “A successful win at the competition could open many promising doors for my modelling career. Previous winners of the competition have gone on to sign rewarding contracts with well-known modelling agencies, modelled in London Fashion Week and even had photo shoots in top-tier magazines such as Vogue. The possibilities are endless with the UK’s number one professional model search competition.”
Ms Bailey studies business management with accounting and finance at The University of West England and her first priority is to complete her bachelor’s degree. However, her ultimate goal is to embark on a part-time modelling career.
Both competitions will be judged by a panel of industry experts, but there is also a Public Vote Award where all proceeds go towards the Children with Cancer UK charity.
