A Christmas Eve party planned for the Summerhaven home for the physically challenged has been called off.

The facility, which has been the scene of tensions over alleged mismanagement, was taken over earlier this month by the Ministry of Health and Seniors.

Residents said they had opted not to proceed with the celebration until all their concerns had been dealt with by the ministry.

However, Christmas donations remain welcome at the Smith’s facility — particularly toiletries and laundry supplies, which are not provided at Summerhaven, as well as visits from barbers or beauticians.
