‘Kids discovery garden’ fundraiser
Three Somersfield students chose the “kids discovery garden” project, supported by Masterworks Museum for Bermuda Art, to organise a fundraiser as their Community Support Project on Saturday.
Frankie Arnold, Darius Mills and Alessio Dane Pinardi came up with the idea to organise a Christmas Fair at the Botanical Gardens, with vendor stands, a train ride through the lit up Botancial Gardens, and entertainment for children all ages . . . and it proved a roaring success as they raised $1700.
The Parks Department offered the students to join their Christmas Market at the Jack King Building, where the vendors were also displaying handmade Christmas gifts.
Katarina Hoskins, honorary consul of Austria in Bermuda, who initiated the projector, said she was “amazed over the team work and self-initiative the three M3 students showed. “Even though they were busy at school they donated their time and effort. Their parents showed great support not just leading up to the event, but were also hands on helping at the fair.”
The kids’ discovery garden aimed to create a space that retains the visual integrity of the Botanical Gardens using natural materials and creating a child friendly and safe area.
