The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service has reported hosting the Caribbean Association of Fire Chiefs Conference with “resounding success”.

Fire chiefs and junior leaders from 18 Caribbean islands took part in classes at the Fairmont Southampton from November 28 to December 2, examining strategies for emergency incidents.

Bermuda’s chief fire officer, Reginald L. Burchall, was promoted from vice-president to president for a minimum of two years, and the conference closed with local firefighter David Lambert emerging victorious from a “firefighter challenge” — a title he will have to defend at the next conference in St Thomas.
