Aida Ruth Tavares, 34, of Fairyland Road, pleaded guilty to the offences which occurred between January 6 and May 12 of this year.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor told the court that while employed as a receptionist at Rego Limited, Tavares embezzled rent cheques paid by the company's tenants.

Between January 6 and May 6, she stole $3,650 on five separate occasions.

Sgt. Taylor added that Tavares also tried to defraud Gorham's Limited under false pretences.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis bailed Tavares in a sum of $500 pending a social inquiry report on December 10.

WARWICK MAN GRANTED CONDTIONAL DISCHARGE CTS Warwick man granted conditional discharge A 50-year-old Warwick man was yesterday granted a conditional discharge for an offence which occurred close to three years ago.

William Leon Matthews yesterday in Magistrates' Court admitted to being drunk and incapable of taking care of himself on New Year's Eve, 1994.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor told the court that Police officers found Matthews on the ground in Par-la-Ville Park, Hamilton, around 12.05 a.m.

When the officers approached Matthews, they smelled a "strong alcoholic stench''.

They woke him up and assisted him to a Police car. On the way, Matthews fell over several times.

He was unable to support himself and could not coherently answer the officers' questions, Sgt. Taylor said.

MAN WAS IN POSSESSION OF OFFENSIVE WEAPON CTS Man was in possession of offensive weapon A Hamilton Parish man yesterday admitted in Magistrates' Court to possession of an offensive weapon.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor said Police on patrol in the Blue Hole, Hamilton Parish area were stopped by a concerned member of the public around 1.45 p.m. on Wednesday.

The person told the officers that Marty Lima had been chasing another man with a machete and a wooden club west along North Shore Road.

The officers searched for 34-year-old Lima whom they found near a bus stop.

Although, they were unable to stop at the time, they noticed him pacing up and down with the machete in his left hand and the club in his right. His mouth was cut and bloody.

When the officers returned, Lima was gone, but was soon found hiding in some nearby bushes.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis issued Lima with a conditional discharge for the next 12 months.

The alert came after an American $50 bill, which was passed on to the Bank of Butterfield from an unnamed major hotel, tested positive as counterfeit.

US VISITOR ROBBED WHILE WAITING FOR BUS CRM US visitor robbed while waiting for bus A 19-year-old American visitor reported he was robbed of $100 while waiting for a bus on Tuesday night.

The victim told Police he was using in a phone booth at the Church Street terminal around 10.45 p.m. when he was approached by a stranger who asked for a quarter.

The victim obliged and the man left. However, he returned a short time later to ask for a dollar.

As the victim reached for his wallet, the suspect snatched it and removed all of the money.
