The Royal Gazette/BSX Index yesterday closed up 15.36 points, or 0.86 per cent, at 1,800.81.

The Bank of Butterfield gained 49 cents, or 1.8 per cent, to $28.50 after 3,500 shares sold.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank was up 5 cents or 0.17 per cent, at $29.02.

Insurer Argus dropped 20 cents, or 4 per cent, to $4.75 after 1,900 shares moved.

And fellow insurer BF&M lost 35 cents or 1.7 per cent and stood at $20 after 800 shares changed hands.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day up 13.80 points, or 0.8 per cent, at 1,731.
