A 58-year-old Southampton man has been jailed for six months for stealing four men’s jackets from the Gibbons Company to the value of $720.
Coolridge Eve admitted in Magistrates’ Court this morning that he stole the jackets despite telling officers at the time of the offence that he had obtained them from another person.
Security cameras in the store had filmed him taking the items and leaving, and an employee identified Eve as the culprit in a ID parade.
While Eve asked Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo for some leniency, in part due to him recently dealing with the death of two family members, Mr Tokunbo insisted he needed to be punished for his actions.
