Attempted armed robbery at Arnold’s

Two men tried to hold up Arnold’s in Hamilton at gunpoint this evening.
Police were called to the store on Front Street at about 9.40pm.
A Police spokesman said: “Initial information suggests that two unknown men entered the store, one brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, demanding money.
“However, both suspects left the premises a short time later empty handed. There were no reported injuries.”
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the surrounding area around 9.30pm on Wednesday to contact the Criminal Investigation Unit on 247-1744 or the confidential and anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.
