Insurance firm BF&M’s shares rose $1.94 to $19.99 on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

The increase, equal to 10.7 per cent, came after 100 shares traded.

Fellow insurer Argus Group was up 12 cents, or 2.7 per cent, to $4.50 after 400 shares moved.

Utilities firm Ascendant stood at $6.97 — a 47 cent, or 7.2 increase, after 200 shares sold.

The Bank of Butterfield was unchanged at $25.10 after 5,917 shares changed hands.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank was up 17 cents, or 0.67 per cent, at $25.47.

Somers Ltd was unchanged at $13.75 after 149 shares traded.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed 21.78 points higher, or 1.35 per cent, at 1,639.02.

The BSX Insurance Index was down 14.30 points, or 0.84 per cent, at 1,688.74.
