KFC Halloween promotion in aid of Red Cross

Bermuda Red Cross has partnered with KFC for a Halloween promotion for a second year running.

The restaurant is selling voucher booklets entitling children under the age of 12 to a free treat and 100 per cent of the proceeds will go to the registered charity.

“Bermuda Red Cross is thrilled to be partnering with KFC again this year,” the charity stated, adding that the treat voucher booklets give families an alternative choice to the traditional candies and chocolate given out on Halloween.

“It is a creative and unique idea and if you don’t get trick or treaters at your house, you can buy the treat vouchers for your own children.”

Money raised through the promotion will go towards the charity’s disaster risk reduction programme, the transport and equipment rental services, various trainings and their support of the Golden Hour Club.

Jason Benevides, the vice-president of KFC Operations, said: “Seasonal treat vouchers, in support of charities, is a popular offering in North American restaurants.

“We decided to bring the concept to Bermuda last year, which proved to be very well received.

“Through this promotion, KFC was able to donate $1,000 to Bermuda Red Cross, which does great work in the local community.

“After last year’s sell-out of Treat Vouchers, we have increased the quantity available this year which we hope will allow us to raise even more funds for the Bermuda Red Cross.”

KFC general manager Ginene McSwain explained that each voucher entitles a child to a free treat, a choice of cookie, apple turnover or an order of French fries.

Booklets cost $1. One voucher can be redeemed by any child 12 years of age or younger on each visit to KFC. Vouchers are valid from November 1 through January 31, 2017.
