Hurricane Katia is making its trek across the Atlantic with little change in strength.Katia has maximum sustained winds early Thursday near 75 mph (120 kph). The US National Hurricane Center in Miami says some strengthening is expected and Katia could become a major hurricane by the weekend.It is too early to say if Katia will make landfall in Bermuda or elsewhere. Most forecast tracks show the storm moving north of the Caribbean and south of Bermuda over the next three days.It's centred about 1,065 miles (1,710 kilometers) east of the Leeward Islands and moving west near 20 mph (32 kph).Also becoming a concern is a thunderstorm cluster in the Gulf of Mexico, which has a high chance of becoming a tropical depression in the next few days.Jack Beven, a senior hurricane specialist at the hurricane center, says it's too early to tell if Katia will hit the US, where parts of the East Coast are still recovering from Hurricane Irene.He said Katia was expected to pass north of the Caribbean.See Storm Watch for more details.
