Tropical Storm Bret is likely to come within 240 nautical miles of Bermuda on Thursday afternoon, meteorologists predicted last night. At 6pm yesterday, Bret had maximum winds of 55 knots, with gusts of up to 65 knots. It was 675 nautical miles west-southwest of the Island, travelling in a north-northeast direction at six knots having safely passed the Bahamas.A tropical storm warning remains in place, with Bret expected to come closer to Bermuda than first thought, but meteorologists say it’s more likely to bring heavy rain than damaging winds.Useful websites: www.weather.bm
