A men’s health charity is bringing Bermudian fashion sense to Guernsey to help raise cancer awareness.

Male Uprising Guernsey is celebrating Bermuda Short Week, calling on office workers to don Bermuda shorts, long socks and a suit jacket or blazer to generate awareness of prostate, bowel and testicular cancer.

Gavin Ferguson, MUG council member, said: “It’s an easy idea that everyone can get involved in.

“There is no training or physical exertion required and we’re not asking for sponsorship.

“We simply want to remind men that male cancers take the lives of too many islanders.”

“We hope the weather will be conducive and that the idea will remind men to be more aware of their physical health and that they should get any little niggle checked out. Early detection of cancer can make a big difference to treatment and health outcomes.”

According to the MUG Facebook page, staff at the Guernsey offices of Deloitte and Appleby were among those who have worn their Bermuda best so far.
