Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd, the Bermudian insurer that acquired Montpelier Re Holdings Ltd, said second-quarter catastrophes probably cost $55.5 million.
The losses were led by wildfires in Canada, storms in Texas and Europe and an earthquake in Japan, the company said in a statement.
Others to have declared second-quarter catastrophe losses include Chubb ($390 million), XL Catlin ($240 million), Aspen ($65 million) and Validus ($60 million).
