Warning of thunderstorms and flooding

Stormy weather forecast: a stalled frontal system spells a wet start to the weekend

The Bermuda Weather Service has issued a severe weather watch with serious conditions forecast over the next two days.

The Ministry of National Security is encouraging the public to be mindful of the approaching conditions and take the necessary precautions.

Strong gusty winds in developing thunderstorms and rainfall accumulations could result in some localised flooding, according to a release from the ministry.

People living in low lying and coastal areas are urged to be particularly vigilant.

The public is encouraged to stay abreast of local weather updates and warnings via www.weather.bm and CableVision channel four.

The Waste Management Section of the Ministry of Public Works advised East End residents not to put trash out this evening in advance of the collection tomorrow.

“Loose waste bags in high winds quickly become vehicular obstacles that may lead to accidents, roadside litter and vector habitats,” a spokeswoman said in a statement.

“Please secure all waste and other loose items around your home this evening and place waste bags out for collection before 7.30am tomorrow in the eastern parishes.”
