Shares of Butterfield Bank lost two cents, or 1.2 per cent, to close at $1.63 after 8,300 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

Meanwhile, the bank’s preference shares were unchanged at $1,001.50 after four shares were exchanged.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed at 1,159.95, down 8.82 points, or 0.75 per cent. The BSX Insurance Index was up 5.68 points, or 0.36 per cent, at 1,601.71
