Goat's victory debut
Shaun Goater's Coventry scraped a 2-1 win on Saturday to lift them out of the relegation zone in their battle for League Championship survival.
A Steve Staunton strike was enough to give the Sky Blues victory over a battling Brighton side as Micky Adams' men moved up to 19th, although still only one point clear of the trapdoor.
Goater started the game - only his third start of a frustrating season on the bench and in the reserves for Reading - alongside Gary McSheffrey, who opened the scoring for Coventry with a first-half penalty.
The Goat, signed on loan until the end of the season, didn't have any clear cut chances to score as he struggled to keep pace with his new team-mates after a season on the sidelines.
He played 80 minutes before being replaced by Trevor Benjamin.
Coventry have six games left and take on Nottingham Forest at home on Wednesday.
