The Bermudian striker described City's relegation from the Premier League this week as the worst moment in his career.

And the days since have not served to dilute his disappointment.

City fell through the trapdoor on Monday night after they failed to get three points at Ipswich, going down 2-1 despite Goater netting the opening goal.

Now after just 12 months among the elite, City are back among the `wannabes' in the Nationwide League.

"It is hard to look and think about the First Division again, because for me, and I am sure for the rest of the players, it is all about the Premiership,'' said Goater. "Having put a lot of hard work in over the past couple of years to get here it is upsetting to go back to the Nationwide after just one season.'' Despite a season blighted by injury early on, Goater has never been far from the goals and the one silver lining is that having proven himself at the top level, playing against Division One defences again should be a walk in the park.

And if the Goat continues to be fed there is no reason why City can not bounce straight back.

"I have to go away in the summer and refresh myself in the hope of returning to the Premiership within the year,'' said Goater. "I have enjoyed playing at this level. If you do not enjoy the stages which we were going on to and playing against some of the best players in Europe, then you are in the wrong game.

"I personally tried to enjoy every game I was involved in. Even against Ipswich when I came on I just wanted to enjoy myself because it can pass you by. I always looked forward to being involved in such important games, but there is obviously immense disappointment at being relegated.'' Goater is still waiting to hear a ruling on the winning goal against West Ham.

If it is given to the Bermudian then he could be the club's top scorer for the third successive season.

However, it is unlikley he will add to his tally. After picking up a back injury when scoring the goal at Ipswich it remains doubtful he will be available for the final game of the season against Chelsea next week.
