Weekend films coming to BUEI
A pair of award-winning films will be screened in Bermuda on Sunday.
Sonita, which won both the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival, and My Golden Days, which won an award at the Cannes Film Festival, will both be shown as part of the Bermuda Documentary Film Festival’s Weekend Film Series.
Sonita, a documentary by filmmaker Rochsareh Ghaem Maghami, follows an 18-year-old Afghan immigrant in Iran, who struggles to live as an artist and musician while her family seek to marry her off for a profit.
My Golden Days is a coming-of-age story of a man who returns to France, reflecting on his life, childhood and family.
Both films will be screened at the Tradewinds Auditorium in the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, with Sonita beginning at 3pm and My Golden Days at 5.15pm. Tickets for both films are on sale at the BUEI’s Oceans Gift Shop, or by calling 294-0204.
