DAB approves Rosemont plans
light from the Development Applications Board.
The plans are part of the guest house's construction of 18 new tourist units which are scheduled to open in the next few weeks.
The approved amendments included the deletion of various "architectural embellishments'' and landscaping of the site, off Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke.
Rosemont owner Barbara Cooper said the approved changes were the result of "objections from neighbours that have finally been resolved''.
Neighbouring property owners complained during a public appeal last year, fearing their privacy would be invaded by the new buildings.
But Mrs. Cooper emphasised the positive, and said construction was now "full-steam ahead''.
"This hasn't prevented us from proceeding, but it has been costly,'' she said.
"It's cost builders a lot of money to come back to square one... but we've never tried to break any rules -- we wouldn't even think of it, and we want to stay friendly with our neighbours.
"It hasn't discouraged us... we are continuing with building and investing money because we have confidence in tourism,'' she added.
Mrs. Cooper said they hoped to open the new units in the next two to three weeks, although the official opening would be delayed until October "until we've had a chance to complete the landscaping and get the property in ship-shape''.
