Hospital plans to build extension
build a three-storey extension.
The planned development would create a 6,780 square feet area above the existing Intensive Care Unit to the north of the hospital.
A planning document stated the new third floor would house a refurbished and extended cardiology department while the fifth floor would be used as a conference facility and provide space for mechanical equipment.
The fourth floor would be left free for future expansion.
The document also stated the hospital intended to begin work by June. No one from the hospital was available for comment.
In other planning news, Fidelity International on Crow Lane, Pembroke, has applied for permission for landscaping and foreshore improvements including a seawall reconstruction and resurfaced driveway.
And Bailey's Ice Cream and Foods D'lites on Blue Hole Hill in Hamilton has applied for a parking extension.
