Eggcellent Easter performance at Westmeath
Last week, along with musicians from every year level, we paid our annual visit to perform for the seniors and staff at Westmeath.
It’s our tradition to visit them twice a year, at Christmas and Easter, and they are always glad to see us.
They were all sitting waiting for us as we arrived and we all tried to wear our Easter Bonnets for the occasion.
We always try to bring music with us that they remember from their younger days!
Our two youngest members of our ensemble, Addy Thorpe and Laura Frith, Year Four, started off our Easter concert with a song called London Bridge is Falling Down and we could see some of the seniors tapping their feet.
Anya and I played the famous Simon and Garfunkel Song called Scarborough Fair on our violin and cello before the whole ensemble played one of the most famous Easter songs in Bermuda, Let’s Go Fly a Kite. The seniors loved this song and many of them started singing along with us.
We followed up with a well-known song called Daisy Daisy,, which everyone loved and as a finale everyone played and sang the song In My Easter Bonnet. Everyone joined in and some staff members came from other parts of Westmeath to listen to us.
We were very grateful to the BHS parents who helped out with transporting all of us plus our instruments over to Westmeath.
The next day, Dr Tully, our teacher, arranged for all of us to have pizza as a reward for our marvellous performance!
We are looking forward to our next visit to perform for the seniors at Westmeath.
