Bermuda passport holders don’t have to possess an electronic passport in order to enter the US, as indicated yesterday by the US Consulate in Bermuda.
In a press statement released by the Consulate, it was stated that individuals who travel to the States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) would require an electronic passport.
But today the Consulate admitted that wasn’t the case.
The requirement to have a valid electronic passport pertains only to citizens of the 38 countries participating in VWP.
Bermuda does not participate in the programme.
The programme provides for visa-free travel by nationals of designated countries coming to the US for tourism or business for a period not to exceed 90 days.
