of a recently published book by Duncan McDowall.
"Another World: Bermuda and the Rise of Modern Tourism'' is set to be launched at the Bermuda College on May 13.
Another World takes a look at Bermuda's tourism industry from its beginnings at the turn of the century to the glory years ending in the 1980s and its current decline.
Mr. McDowall, a history professor at Carleton University in Ottawa and frequent visitor to the Island, calls the book the result of a 20-year love affair with Bermuda.
He is perhaps best known locally for his lectures and articles about the Tucker's Town story.
The book-launching lecture will start at 7.30 p.m. at the College's North Hall. Admission is $5 for the general public and $2 for Friends of the Library members.
