‘Healing’ gathering at Victoria Park
The community is urged to attend a peaceful gathering at Victoria Park today, to begin a “healing process” following the discontent of the past week.
Meditation leader Sylvia Hayward-Harris has arranged the event, from 10am to 2pm, to “create and spread peace, harmony, healing and cohesiveness, also forgiveness over this island”.
Ms Hayward-Harris said: “We have been through an ordeal and it could take some time to get us back on an even keel. I invite you to form a part of the healing process.
“Come out even just for a few minutes. People can come as and when they want and leave when they have to. We just ask for quiet and respect.”
This morning, the Bermuda Government has confirmed buses and ferries are operating as normal, while trash collection has resumed with a focus on collection in the East End. The quarry depot is operational today.
A government spokeswoman said: “We are asking for the public’s patience as crews work to clear a significant backlog of trash as quickly as possible.”
