Startup Weekend 2016 launches on Friday
Entrepreneurs will be given a chance to shine this weekend as part of the annual Startup Weekend event.
A globaly recognised, non-profit event, the Startup Weekend tasks entrepreneurs with taking business ideas from concept to launch, forming teams and developing a buisiness plan for a company or project.
At the end of the weekend, the teams will present their plans to an audience of judges and potential investors, with prizes going to the top three teams.
A spokeswoman for the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation and the Department of E-Commerce said: “The weekend is a technology-infused three-day frenzy of business model creation, coding, design, and market validation.
“Coaches, most of whom are local entrepreneurs and subject matter experts in their own right, are available throughout the weekend to assist the participants as they test their ideas. Ethan Bagley (Startup Weekend California) will also be in attendance as a facilitator.”
Mr Bagley, who hosted the 2015 Startup Weekend on the island, added: “I am so excited to be able to come back to Bermuda to help bring the participants’ ideas into reality. I know that those who participate will have a life-changing experience.”
The event is scheduled to start on Friday, taking place at Pier 6 in Hamilton.
