Taxi booking app Hitch has notched up its 2,000th trip.

The milestone came only three months after the island’s first pre-arranged taxi booking app was launched.

Calvin Minors, chairman of Hitch, said: “We are especially proud that last month 95 per cent of all Hitch bookings were confirmed within one minute.

“Hitch will be releasing a series of upgrades over the next few months in response to the suggestions from our customers and taxi operators.”

The service now has more than 1,500 registered users, with in excess of 100 taxi drivers using the service.

Hitch can be downloaded free of charge to mobile devices through the Apple App store for iPhone, or the Google Play store for Android.
