Venue switch for top reggae line-up
Internationally renowned reggae singers Tarrus Riley, Cocoa Tea and Etana will now showcase their musical talents next month at the National Sports Centre — a different venue from that previously announced.
The trio were originally due to perform in the car park at BAA on March 24.
However, organiser Spectrum Global was forced to switch the venue after discovering that the car park would be unavailable on the day of the show, which will now be held at the North Field on the same date.
“They [BAA] were not able to accommodate us because the car park is used on a Thursday,” Rosie Cross, owner of Spectrum Global, said. “There was no way we could set up with the car park being used.”
Ms Cross confirmed that local singer Jesse Seymour would be the opening act, along with local deejays Jugglin’ Jason and King Jyrus. Master of Ceremonies is Ninja Cutty.
The last show Spectrum Global held at Tiger Bay featured reggae dancehall great Mavado, who proved popular with local fans.
Ms Cross believes that next month’s show will fall along the same lines.
“The public can expect an evening full of excitement, especially with Tarrus Riley and Cocoa Tea,” she said. “Etana is going to bring her own style of music and she will be a very good asset and mix for all age brackets. She is quite big and comes with her own band, so I’m really looking forward to that.”
This will be Tarrus’s second performance in Bermuda in two years. The singer, who is perhaps best known for hit song She’s Royal, was last here for the 2014 Cup Match Summer Splash extravaganza.
“These are some very talented singers and I’m actually looking forward to seeing Cocoa Tea,” Ms Cross added. “We have a very good mix. Bermuda needs this type of excitement.”
