Effect of long-term property leases

Dear Sir,
Your newspaper has not warned Bermuda about the effect of super long-term leases of Bermuda property.
Buyers are taking advantage of Bermuda’s loss of financial control by stealing us blind and our leaders are letting it happen.
The 262-year proposed lease of the property for the St George’s hotel project is ridiculous. What would a like property have cost in 1750? What is its market value today?
The answer to these two questions will give us an idea of how dumb the St George’s lease deal is. It must not happen. We have already given away many valuable Bermuda assets in the same way.
Yours sincerely, BERTRAM GUISHARD
