What’s this got to do with SSM?

Seeking guidance: a reader has given a view on a possible reaction to the same-sex marriage issue

Dear Sir,

The question:

Have you ever disliked someone so much that in your frustration to deal with their unrighteous behaviour, you asked God to punish them?

The response:

Maybe once or twice.

The question:

What was your request?

The response:

That God execute His vengeance upon my enemy.

The question:

Did God answer you?

The response:

Absolutely, but not the way I expected.

The question:

Please explain?

The response:

God never asked me or you to punish anyone for their unrighteous behaviour, nor did He ask us to determine the penalty for it.

The question:

What did God do?

The response:

He asked us to love and forgive them, and that it would be in our best interest to do so.

The question:

Why would God not give us His blessing to punish someone for their unrighteousness?

The response:

“Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”

We did not enter this world with the authority to determine what is sin because God has clarified the matter, along with saying how every sinner would pay for their sins.

As long as we choose to stand on our own beliefs, we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us, as will our children and their children. Why? Because in our own selfish and “infinite” wisdom, we repeatedly make the decision that we know how to manage the issues that ordinarily come with “living life” better than God Himself.

The question:

What’s this got to do with same-sex marriage?

The response:

The proponents of same-sex marriage are asking our government to legalise the commission of their unrighteousness.

This message addresses how we should love and forgive them all as they live in their sin; but we must also boldly stand up and voice our total opposition to their request.
