Family Forum has dedicated its 2015 Christmas hamper giving programme to Dennis Landy, a longtime volunteer who died last month.

Mr Landy, right, was heavily involved in the monthly confidential support group, held at the Point Finger Road offices of community charity Family Centre, which launched the initiative in 2009.

“Dennis was the consummate member of the group. He was our rock, a leader, and the person who kept us on task,” said Martha Dismont, Family Centre’s executive director.

She also recalled Mr Landy’s willingness to appear in the charity’s “Change Starts with Me” media campaign, encouraging the public to improve society by looking inside themselves.

“He talked about how much change had to start with him, and it did, and he talked about how much he loved his family,” Mrs Dismont added.

Last weekend, Mr Landy’s family visited Family Centre to accept a plaque honouring his life and commitment to others.

Meanwhile, the Christmas hampers compiled in his name are being given to needy families for the festive season.

“Dennis spearheaded our gift of hampers to families in the community, and we will miss his guidance and direction,” Mrs Dismont said.
