A call for aid has gone out from the Hands of Love Ministry, which has set its sights on helping 250 families in need this Christmas.

Donations, food vouchers, toys and edibles are all gratefully received, said the head of the charity, Fern Wade.

“We’ve been helping people for the last 35 years and a lot of people need help right now, because of the economy” she added.

“I don’t think it’s going to pick up for another three years. With so many people out of work, it puts pressure on charities.”

Cash or cheque donations, food vouchers, turkeys and gifts for children are much in need.
