Man denies stabbing policeman in nightclub
The man accused of stabbing Bermudian police officer Kyle Godfrey in a British nightclub has pleaded not guilty.
Kier Lawrie, 25, of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, appeared at Aylesbury Crown Court yesterday morning, charged with one count of wounding with intent and one count of possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Mr Godfrey suffered a punctured lung during the incident, which took place at the Wonderworld nightclub in Milton Keynes early on Saturday, October 31, and was released from hospital several days later.
The 22-year-old, who was halfway through a two-week holiday in Britain, represented Bermuda in the Carifta Games in 2012, competing in the 400 metres relay.
Mr Lawrie’s next hearing is set for Tuesday January 26.
