Government schools except Dame Marjorie Bean Hope to reopen, Saltus to reopen

All Government schools will reopen tomorrow except Dame Marjorie Bean Hope Academy.

A spokeswoman made the announcement just before 7pm and thanked parents and teachers for their cooperation.

Saltus Grammar School will also reopen tomorrow.

But the school said Wednesday’s opening ceremony of the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) Senior Boys’ Soccer Tournament would be cancelled due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Gonzalo. It was due to be held at 5pm at the National Sports Centre.

The teams that have arrived will start playing immediately and the tournament will be a truncated format with games throughout Wednesday and Thursday.

Saltus thanked the public for their patience and support.

Meanwhile, CedarBridge Academy has cancelled tonight’s Parent Teacher Association meeting.

A prize-giving scheduled for tomorrow has also been postponed.

Parents will be informed of the new date as soon as one has been arranged.

Mount Saint Agnes Academy said it was cancelling its Bazaar this weekend ahead of Hurricane Gonzalo.

“After reviewing the latest forecast and taking into consideration the well-being of the entire MSA Family and broader Bermuda community, we have unanimously decided to postpone the MSA Bazaar,” the school said.

“We reviewed the MSA calendar and have determined that the weekend of November 14/15th is the earliest opening window in which we could hold the Bazaar.

“We will not be able to finalise this decision until after Hurricane Gonzalo has passed so we can fully understand the damage which it may have caused to Bermuda.

“We hope and pray that damage will be minimal.”
