Burrows and Stoneham are raising the bar
David Burrows and Andy Stoneham were among the drivers on the move during an exciting day of Remembrance Day racing at the Bermuda Equestrian Centre.
Burrows’s mare, Royal Caribbean, moved up from the 1:12/1 and slower time bar after completing a clean sweep of victories in her division to cap a memorable day of racing. Royal Caribbean will now compete in the faster 1:07/2 – 1:10/3 time bar.
Also moving up a time bar was Stoneham’s stallion, Custard the Dragon, that moved out of the 1:07/2 – 1:12 division en route to victory in heat ten. Custard the Dragon will now compete in the faster 1:06/1 – 1:07/1 time bar.
Getting a leg out of their respective times bars were mares Reel Patrol and Shady’s Liberty.
Reel Patrol, with Cameron Harris in the sulky, got a leg out of the 1:12/1 and slower division while Shady’s Liberty, driven by Candyce Martins, got a leg out of the 1:10/4 –1:12 time bar.
Burrows and Harris were the day’s only multiple heat winners.
Christian Truran posted the fastest time of 1:05/1 in the Free for All with Inwood Stables’s gelding, Brona’s Mike, which was one fifth of a second slower than the season’s fastest which the pony shares with Cherokee’s Ironman.
Andre Westerfield posted the second and third fastest time of 1:05/2 and 1:05/4 with 13-year old stallion, GV Crystal Ball, in the Free for All.
