Kind firefighters lend a hand

Community spirit: firefighters pitched in to help an elderly woman carry her groceries.
An example of everyday kindness by two firefighters has touched hearts across the Island after sweeping through social media.
Stationed at their eastern standby point near Shelly Bay, the pair spotted an elderly woman passing by with a load of groceries.
They immediately approached to offer their help — and volunteered to carry the bags of shopping the rest of the way.
Posted on the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service’s Facebook page, the story was swiftly shared by hundreds and clocked up more than 1,000 likes.
The image, in the words of one commenter, stood as a testament to “the Bermuda we know”.
