Castle Harbour plans new units
Harbour Hotel and rebuild a new approach to tourist accommodations.
Owners Bermuda Properties Ltd. have sent detailed plans to the Development Applications Board to demolish the Harbour and Golf Wings of the hotel and replace them with a private membership club and a residential facility.
The building of the membership club and the residential facility are part of a $220 million development which includes work on the golf course.
BPL spokesman Mark Orchard called the project an "integrated resort development'' and said the residential club was a new concept to the Island.
Members of the private Residential Vacation Club own a shared fee simple or leasehold interest in a specific unit and have the right to use the club during reserved weeks of the year.
The principal interval product to be offered is a one-seventh or one-tenth interest in a residential unit and members can reserve specific weeks in the "beach'' or "golf'' season.
Members will also have unlimited additional use of the Residential Club and as part of the Resort community, are entitled to use all of its facilities and amenities of the Resort and Hotel.
It will comprise of 43 units in seven mid-rise buildings built on the site of the Harbour Wing which is commonly called the pyramid building.
There will be ten two-bedroom units, 19 three-bedroom units and 14 four-bedroom units.
Castle Harbour's Golf Wing will be torn down and replaced by the Golf Villas which are 1,800 to 2,200 square foot condominiums available to residents and international buyers.
There will be 23 two- and three-bedroom units and buyers will have access to all of the Resort.
